Stop Allowing Social Media to Determine Your Worth

Honest post, I’m not crazy, I promise (okay, maybe a bit). I admit it I’ve let Instagram defeat me. I’ve given in. It’s a minefield… literally. You can’t win.

My aim when I started Instagram was to build a tribe, share my own journal, and how I’m feeling.. maybe it’s relatable, maybe not.

Fast forward six months, and I’m overthinking every.little.thing on social media. I’m taking things personally. How many likes do I have, how many followers I’ve gained/ lost? I seem to be losing the main reason why I started this page. I’m letting social media determine my self-worth.

Maybe it’s because I care, and I’m passionate about my page. It’s personal to me. I need to come back to the reason I started my page, to create a tribe, a community of like-minded people and to share things like this to know that we’re not all perfect and healed. Life isn’t always love and light, but every day is a new day, a new start to think a different thought, be more positive, be more thankful, be more loving.

I wanted to share this because I’m sure at some point, or even now, social media is a massive part of your daily schedule and to know that it can be massively positive. However, be mindful of how it’s making you feel and take a break if you need to. Your mental health is much more important than a post.
